- In the first part of this weeks learning activity, we were asked to choose two words from the list below and also create a new word of our own which has no dictionary definition;
- Compression
- Transition
- Contraction
- Addition
- Subtraction
- Disruption
- Repetition
- Elimination
- Migration
- Expansion
I choose repetition and compression.
My new word is ‘fiki’. In my dictionary this means ‘when you are inspired and feel creative with the use of colors. What you create is freakily colorful and different. There is no limit on how many colors you can use, and what types of colors.
2. Create three different compositions for your three words, one word per composition. In each, arrange each word to express its meaning, using either colour or black and white. Consider all and any means at your disposal: dramatic scale contrasts, cutting, repetition, letter spacing, etc.
For the second part of the activity, I chose to first sketch some ideas of how to express my chosen words. I used Adobe illustrator to make some of my ideas. Below are my results;
You can see that I express my meaning of the word by using many colors and making every letter have a different design. It makes the word look colorful and fun at the same time.
The word ‘repetition’ is reflected well as you see the word being repeated several times.
In these picture you can see that the word is being pressed/compressed together and that is how I try to express the meaning of the word.
